Course summary

This course will create a greater awareness of peoples understanding of individuals at risk of abuse. Highlighting the changes that have been introduced during 2009 with the introduction of the ISA and the new legislation The Safeguarding of Vulnerable Groups Act 2006

Learners will be able to:

  • Explain measures within the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Bill 2006.
  • Know how to Recognise abuse.
  • Describe why abuse occurs.
  • Understand different types of abuse.
  • Identify signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Understand what empowerment means in practice
  • Explore disclosure and why abuse is not disclosed
  • Describe whistle blowing, recording and reporting
